Heavy-Duty Fundamental Alignment (Level I) Course Description

This course is designed to instruct the new or less experienced heavy-duty alignment technician in fundamental alignment theory, equipment operation and the common adjustment methods found on single and multi-axle road tractors and trailers. The course also includes an overview of suspension and steering systems with detailed instruction on the need to use proper inspection procedures. Course consists of a combination of classroom lectures and hands-on shop training.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By the end of the course, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe camber, caster, toe and thrust angle and the related effects these angles have on tire wear and vehicle handling.
  • Perform a proper pre-alignment inspection of the suspension and steering systems.
  • Setup the aligner and accurately measure the adjustable angles.
  • Perform the alignment procedures necessary to properly align single or multi-axle tractors and trailers.

PREREQUISITES:

Heavy-duty truck and trailer service experience.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

Medium and Heavy-Duty Service Technicians.

COST:

$500.00 per student

Note-This course may be taken in combination with the Advanced Heavy-Duty Alignment (Level II) Course for $800.00 ($125.00 savings).

COURSE LENGTH:

Three-days (24 hours) unless otherwise specified.
