Hunter Engineering named recipient of 2026 MOTOR Top 20 Award

9/2/2026 -
Road Force WalkAway® wheel balancer recognized for innovation and speed

ST. LOUIS For the seventh time in the past six contests, Hunter Engineering is pleased to announce it has been named a winner of a MOTOR Top 20 Award.

For 2026, the honor comes for the autonomous Road Force WalkAway® wheel balancer, capable of reducing door-to-door four-tire changeover times by up to 44 percent.

The key innovation is integrating a new autonomous inflation arm into the balancer. When inflation is completed, the air chuck releases automatically and the spin begins, balancing the assembly and measuring Road Force.

All of this occurs without the technician present, who is then free to “walk away” and tend to other duties, such as getting the next assembly, installing and pre-torquing assemblies on the vehicle, or other necessary activities.

The savings are approximately 10 minutes with a basic tire changer, and 12 minutes with Hunter’s Maverick® tire changer. When paired with Hunter’s autonomous Revolution™ tire changer to form the WalkAway® System, a typical 34-minute changeover can be reduced by 15 minutes, or 44 percent.

“It’s always an honor to be recognized for innovative solutions in our industry, and we’re grateful to MOTOR for the opportunity,” said Greg Meyer, Hunter Senior Product Manager. “It’s almost shocking to see how little time and effort it takes a single technician to change a set of four tires when using Road Force WalkAway® and Hunter’s Revolution™ tire changer.”
